Arthur Byrd continues to desire to serve the people of the south suburban community as Highway Commissioner for Rich Township. He realizes that his organizational skills, leadership and integrity, along with his ability to empower others, has been the key to a successful business.  He is committed to Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Responsibility, and pledges to provide services of the Road District to Rich Township without conflict of interest and pledges to post all public contracts for community review.

Arthur Byrd is a current resident of Olympia fields, Illinois. He has been married to his wife, Carol Byrd for 48 years and has two adult-aged daughters and five grandchildren. Upon graduating from the University of Illinois, he began his career as an educator in Flossmoor School District 161.  In 1983 he embarked on his second career as a financial planner and independent insurance agent.  He is presently the founder and CEO of Olympia Fields Insurance Agency, providing commercial and personal insurance throughout Chicagoland, as well as Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona and Maryland.  His knowledge of insurance is well-respected among his peers and clients.

Along with all his duties as a businessman, he has also found the time to serve the south Chicagoland community since 1975 in the following capacities:

  • Treasurer of Olympia Fields East Homeowners Association from 2002 to Present
  • Trustee of the Village of Olympia Fields from 2013-2017
  • Committee Member of Olympia Fields Finance Committee, Economic Development Committee and Educational Committee
  • Board Member of South Suburban Mass Transit Board from 2008-2013
  • Committee/Campaign Member for Citizens for Al Riley
  • Vice President of Flossmoor Education Association from1982-1983; Local Teacher’s Union
